Helen Rickerby

Revolutions

It was the age
of film and aviation:
the annihilation of time and space

Conquering distance and memory
the eternal moment
played over and over
forwards or backwards
the movable instant of one foot
then the other

You could travel to tomorrows
you could relive yesterdays

spinning blades
spinning reels

A revolution of capture

Helen Rickerby has published two collections and one chapbook of poetry. She can almost bring herself to believe that ‘Cinema’, a new poetry collection which includes this poem, is finally nearly finished. She runs Seraph Press, a boutique poetry publisher, is co-managing editor of JAAM literary magazine, and has a day job as a web editor.
