Barbara Strang

softness of cobwebs

the possessions ditched
in a wardrobe:
the backpack with broken zip,
an unworn shirt …
fewer compliments
in a telephone voice,
regrets diminishing

Barbara Strang lives in at the foot of the Port Hills Christchurch, which was badly affected by the earthquakes. Luckily her home is still liveable. She is a widely published poet who has a passion for haiku and related forms. Her second poetry collection The Corrosion Zone (HeadworX) was published last year.

Strang writes: “List poems fascinate me, I like the idea of combining items of unrelated types, and hopefully achieving an emotional charge.”
