Lachlan Brown

On line two

Some things are clear
                                         like when the carriage
bursts into graffiti and discounted sunlight

or a woman rises to leave
                                                and her seat snaps shut
like a sharp rebuke or a director calling cut.

But later the breeze will catch the scraps of rubbish

so that they twist in the air
                                                     like perfumed unruly thoughts
